Nga Manu Images
A digital photo library that is part of Nga Manu Trust, a charitable trust dedicated to conservation and conservation education. It has a Nature Reserve at Ngarara Road, Waikanae.
Many of the images on this site are part of a long running project to develop a pictorial record of the ecology of Nga Manu Nature Reserve, recording the plants and wildlife and the way they interact. A small sample of these images, along with others taken elsewhere, are presented on this site for you enjoy and use.
Usage and Copyright
In keeping with the Trust’s objectives these images are available free of charge for conservation advocacy, and education purposes, as well as non commercial personal use. Acknowledgement of Nga Manu Images copyright is required for any published images.
The Images can be used for other purposes by prior agreement. Commercial use is possible, subject to negotiation.
The Image Library
There are now about 100,000 images in the Nga Manu Images database and new subjects are being added all the time. Older images are based on 35mm and larger transparencies, the more recent images are all taken as raw files. In special circumstances higher resolution images or original raw files can be made available.
Included in the database are several photo sets that contain a large amount of data on particular subjects which may be of value to researchers. At present there are several sets containing comprehensive data on nesting Wood Pigeon, Fantail and Tui. There are also smaller sets with data on feeding activity on fruiting Kohekohe, Kiekie and Poroporo plants, and the scavenging activity of a number of animals, mainly Weasel, Possum and Ship Rats.
